Review by Marko

Scandinavian Peninsula is not currently associated with the first thrashowym teams. This region is famous for his time with bands playing a bit heavier (black metal, death metal) music. Despite these opinions, it is certain to realize that the scene also had its flagship Thrashing the representatives, who, with their talent, technique, or a vision of the game was not yielded better known bandom from other parts of the world. One of my favorite bands of the bunch is the Norwegian Equinox.

roots of this band back in 1982 and Group Rebellion, in which he gave the following young men: Grim Sten (vocals, guitar), Sten skul (bass) and "Raggen Westin (drums). In January 1987 they changed their name to Equinox (from a piece of Sodom), and another year to the composition of Co-opted Skaringa Tommy (guitar). Groups in this lineup recorded a few demos later, which became the most famous "What the Fuck Is This?" In 1988. With some experience the band has decided to register themselves and distribute their debut publications. Ultimately, the issue of "Auf Wiedersehen" did the BMG Records, making Equinox became the first Norwegian team, which signed a contract with a major label. The record was on the market in 1989.

On his debut album, Equinox recorded material which draws from both German and American thrash metal scene. It's really quite dirty, quite aggressive, no shortage of percussion whirl and simple, "in-your-face" riffs. At the same time, however, sometimes creep into the compositions more thoughtful, varied and technical maneuverings, which foretold the coming evolution of the musical band. This natural-sounding combination of dirt and provoked some of the technical aspects for the comparison of this disc with such albums as "Terrible Certainty" Wizard, or "Extraction From Mortality" Believer. As for me, this is not the level, not the class, but you have to admit that something like this but it is.

Proceeds two schools can be heard also in the band frontman. Vocalist Equinox, Grim Stena has similar color to the actions Teutonic boosters (such as "The King", you can catch some similarities to the Mille Petrozzy), but sometimes you can catch him behind the inspiration guttural Great Waters. His singing like a total stands out, but I do not mind, and fits the music, and this is not the most important.

Sounds album from today's perspective does a great impression. But what to expect from the board of Norwegian newcomers of 1989!? This is not some pampered naturally top-flight production, but listen to this pain. The guitars are maybe a bit chrzęszczące, section, probably a little lack of clarity, but it has its own undeniable charm. Well, as old-school.

time on the reality.

"Auf Wiedersehen" starts nice sounding acoustic piece. This is a stylish opening intro the first number - "Stop!". After less than a minute of relative bliss, this track starts in earnest, hitting in the middle, a little torn pace. Overall, this piece is not stirred something in particular - is probably not sufficiently dynamic as albumowy opener.
sześciominutowy next number is the title track. Maintained at an average rate has a rather interesting, distinctive riffs. The transition in the middle of the composition attracts the attention of quite a melodic guitar parts and a good solo. It is certainly a bit more successful than its predecessor, though hard to call him "the destroyer".
something else the next composition. After tytułówce attacks and motor racing, "The King". Almost at the beginning of the track screaming frontman of the band immortal Swiss "UGH "- is quite charming, as is indeed the same number. Simple yet catchy riffs, and any, or motor skills simply forced to a specific headbangingu. The stylish variety at the end of three minutes there is a very short passage from the solos, riffs built on a hit - it really can be enjoyed. Very good song, one of my favorites from her debut album Norwegians.
fortunate group does not stop on its laurels and the next "Pharaoh's Dance" is also a piece of thrash siarczystego. Less than three and a half minutes of catchy, sharp guitars and percussion galopady. Dynamics, adequate power, showy solos - not for what you attach.
"Violins", despite the name, do not have much in common with classical music. It is quite pleasant, dynamic instrumental track, which is chasing lick lick and riff riff everywhere. Another great Scandinavian baking.
Unfortunately, in "The Floating Man" level decreases. This track is for me a bit too coarse and too little crisp. Like normal, scavenger thrash with fast, spectacular solos, but probably lacks that "something."
lot slower than its predecessor, "House of Wonders" is "something" already has. The number in the chorus quite enchants a simple riff, but that screwed up in my head and do not want to get out of it. Obviously this is not the pugnacity as Motley Crue, but thanks to this characteristic zagrywkom thrash albums do not merge into one whole, and almost from the first hearing in the memory of the listener leave any trace.
"Realm of Darkness" is a sympathetic, galloping song, with a very pleasant, melodic fragment in the middle. Catchy riffs, great solos, dynamic drums ... What more could you want? I am sure that this piece played was very happy in concert the group is perfect for gigs. One of my favorites.
disc ends with the most extensive and longest composition, familiarly called "Dead by Dawn." Maintained primarily in fast tempos, riffs have a lot of changes. In the sixth minute, quite unexpectedly surprising number of the acoustic insertion, but this is only an interrupt of the battle, "the interval between rounds." A piece of pretty good, but certainly not the best on this release.

conclusion: It is generally good, with new here and there flashes of something even better. Equinox on his debut and the world can not kidnapped, but that's no reason to have the beginnings of the way this team to tell him right away, "auf wiedersehen." Who will do so - do not die, but they will lose a lot of good music.

Favorites: The King, the House of Wonders, "Realm of Darkness
