Review by Est
About 4Arm already I mentioned on the occasion of their album 'The Empires Of Death "from 2010. Then I mentioned also that the debut album by this band sounds like Metallica on steroids, but is actually the case? About this later in the review. 4Arm Australian band formed in 2004, the band had originally signed a contract with Green Media and is released under this name the band's debut album - already in 2005. Unfortunately, the continuing need to wait five years, and "The Empires Of Death" the band has already self-released.

What can be heard on "13 Scars? 13 tracks, the duration is 51 minutes - that is neither too long nor too short. At the same time from the times I'd like to point out that this formation is fond of fast, thrash tempos, but musically closer to the groove metal (at least on the debut). Their debut album, however, is different than "The Empires Of Death" - above all is here more than at the root of thrashowego second release, there is less core'owego overtones. The wording is a bit more raw, a little outside this band has been experimenting on his debut - a groovecore yet in any case can not be said, despite the fact that you can hear that this band had on their idea from the beginning. And, about "Metallica on steroids" - well, listening to "13 Scars" come to mind to me, "Death Magnetic", which admittedly I have not heard, but it was first thought (perhaps wrong). Obviously, we feel more powerful guitars, vocals and decidedly sharper normal drummer, who is not pounding the snare drums from first to last second album. 4Arm debut certainly not catchy at first listen - yes, you should be noted that a solid material and behind. Only after a few turns can be drawn, although, as I have said much more meaningful to me 4Arm album from 2010. The downside is the mediocre debut of some numbers, which may initially be too much with each other zlewać. The numbers seem all the best "13 Scars," "As I Am You" and "Provider" - although there are specific pieces of something coming off from the rest set to "13 Scars." The album will be heard also a lot of good riffs, but which are already fairly hackneyed, and are not unusual. Good roars by Danny Tomb, but first and foremost a great job drumming that manages Michael Vafiotis (percussion is one of the strongest elements of this release.)

4Arm debut album is a solid material which may not surprise nothing new, because it blends with the thrash metal groove was plenty. Energy also not particularly shocking, but it is fast and highly concentrated material - there is some downtime here at which one would like to press the "skip". It is true that "13 Scars "is far behind" The Empires Of Death "it is worth to read it, not only to learn the origins of this band, but also to hear how a small change in style may raise a band and make her music is kind of different and characteristic. Solid material that I do not think anyone should be surprised - would do well to work a little over the wording, because sometimes the guitar sounds almost too raw.
