Review by Marko

After the release of his debut album , Mortification got interested in the orbit of the famous German label - Nuclear Blast. It is in the colors came out of the group's most famous LP. In August 1992 saw the commercials produced by Doug Sanders and the same band, the cult album "Scrolls of the Megilloth.

album begins with a rather unusual intros: the peace emerge - print, Paint - swamp sounds ... To the ears of inquisitive student comes buzzing insects, the croaking of frogs, wolves howling, and the like sounds. These "romantic" introduction to "Night" album climate ;-) Some people might pick it up as a kind of wink of the eye to the listener, but with the entry of the first riff, "Nocturnal" is heard once that there is nothing to count on any jokes here .. .

on this disc Mortification has departed from the strong deathowym thrashowania in climate, which is the current style of the previous album, in favor of a truly deathowego, dark sweep with interesting and skillfully wpasowanymi, doomowymi elements. Music fills' Scrolls Of The Megilloth "in his ward is a very ruthless and downright deathly-cold. The Australian trio of shun not been here for temp and high-speed blasts, and despite the hard recognize that this is a simplistic play without any kind of soul and depth. Feels almost exactly the opposite! The album gives the impression of a deliberate and orderly, not a straw for chaff (thankfully). Cool fall out all kinds of variety, a suitably atmospheric intros to certain songs, such as bell-organ introduction to the title track. In addition, it must be emphasized that, despite that the group is largely lost / reduced here thrash elements and issued with one pulse, it is still a lot of passages in their own way, and hit "catchy" (even the "Raise The Chalice", built on a catchy riffs).

somewhat surprising may be a complete lack of guitar solos. This procedure tends to believe that the team decided to play in a more condensed and compact as well - thus - to put the power and strength of the shock of his riffs. These, however, wrapped up in a better sound than before, can really make an impression. Also on the less well-behaved children ...

not mentioned the voice of Steve Rowe ... And there is a mention! Frontman recorded on the album, even inhuman lots! Powerful, low growl, which comes out of his bowels simply MUST make an impression. Passages he sometimes yell some of the issues a bit higher, possibly combined Both types of cries. Vocally are also welcome diversion melorecytowane, clean, lots of "Death Requiem" and the peculiar, "bubbling recitation of" appearing at the end of the last number ... Thus, the vocals, just like with music, also there is no joke and you have to honestly admit that they sound very professional and they are one of the many strengths of this album.

separate paragraph I would like to dedicate the last number, colossal in its size (almost 12 minutes) "Ancient Prophecy". This track stands out from others of this material, not only because of its length. You could say that the "Ancient Prophecy" is such an essence of this album Mortification "Scrolls of the Megilloth" "in a nutshell." Since the beginning of a monumental, based largely on massive, slow riffs, then attacking with uncompromising speed just for a moment go back to previous licks. All with a merciless precision, very naturally and with flair. With time, the number is growing even in a different direction, but is still present in this certain dignity and power ... This composition is very successfully closes the album.

conclusion: You can ask yourself question whether it is good that the group went boldly to the "death metal"? Although I am a big fan of the previous two releases the band I think yes. Evidence of this great success and fame, which fell after the release of Mortification of this work. In addition, "Scrolls of the Megilloth" became a cult album in Christian circles, scenes, the most famous death metal disc dating from the Antipodes, as well as the link for the next CD the band. I'm not much of a geek deathowym to expose this CD marks the maximum (which may have an expert on that temptation; Now rock on this record was a 5 / 5), but one can not appreciate the true Power of coming from this album. Also turned a blind eye to such a fine, rare and altogether meaningless defects, such as at times perhaps too literal references to the band's previous works (slightly stripped down riff from "Satan's Doom," the title track). In its class, the album is a really strong player and it would be wrong to underestimate it. At the end of the half in jest, half seriously ... Ukorzcie unfaithful and fall down on your knees! ]: ->

Favorites: "Terminate Damnation", "Death Requiem", "Ancient Prophecy"
